⚡ Why it’s great

Manorbier is a conservation area within the Pembrokeshire National Park. It’s a stunning part of Wales with a beautiful beach and plenty to do in the surrounding area.

Manorbier Castle

If you want to experience a little history, Manorbier Castle is worth visiting, and it offers guided tours during the summer months. It’s worth noting that the castle is also used for weddings and is closed most Saturdays as well as on a few other select dates. Check the website for the most up-to-date info.

The castle is a great place to take children during the holidays, as it puts on a variety of events. There’s also a lovely tearoom inside, and dogs are welcome too. Entry to the castle is £6.50 for adults, and there’s a family ticket available.

Relax on the beach

The beach is a great place to relax during the summer or go for an early morning swim, as we saw many locals doing. Even though it was a warm day, the sea was very cool first thing in the morning.

Hike the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path

From the beach car park, you can easily get onto the coast path, which gives you great views back towards the beach. It’s not a particularly strenuous hike to get to nearby Lydstep, but there’s no shelter from the sun on a hot day. We stopped at the Lydstep Tavern for a well-deserved drink.

About 1.5 miles along the coast path from Manorbier beach is Church Doors Cove, where you can climb down to go swimming. The water is beautifully blue, and the rock formations are stunning.

✨ Experience

I visited Manorbier as part of a road trip through Wales. We started in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) and then made our way over to Manorbier. If you’re adventurous, check out Preseli Venture, who offer coasteering. You’ll get to swim, jump off rocks, climb, and explore caves all along Pembrokeshire’s stunning coastline.

As part of the road trip, we also went hiking in the Brecon Beacons. If you’re in the area, I recommend the Four Falls trail. You can drive to the Gwaun Hepste car park for an ‘energetic’ 5.5-mile hike. There are steps down to each waterfall, which means you need to trek back up.
